Guides Kaufland rules

What does a cancellation rate above 1% cost?

An empty, open cardboard box.

The cancellation rate is the share of the items ordered in a month that were cancelled for a reason on your side. Kaufland expects fewer than 1% seller-related cancellations per month, and charges a fee in two tiers above that.

The two tiers

Between 1% and 2.99% Kaufland charges 7% of the total price of the cancelled transactions; over 3% it is 15%. For exactly 3%, Kaufland states no rate. The fee depends on the tier and on the value of what you cancelled.

An example: 400 items ordered in a month, six of them cancelled, worth €540 in total. The rate is 1.5%, and the fee is 7% of €540, so €37.80. With thirteen cancellations the rate would be 3.25%, and the fee 15% of their total price.

From 7% to 15%

Above 3% the fee rate more than doubles. At 400 items a month, eleven cancellations (2.75%) fall in the 7% tier and thirteen (3.25%) in the 15% tier. Two extra cancellations late in the month, because an item turned out to be missing, can therefore more than double the fee for the whole month.

Sellgrip keeps calculating the rate over the last 30 days; you find it under Account metrics. Early warning warns you before the limit is reached. To check it without an account, use the cancellation rate calculator.

What counts as seller-related?

Kaufland lists seven reasons: goods not in stock, incorrect price, cancellation by the seller with no reason given, incorrect product data, goods not received, no response from the seller, and delivery delayed. A cancellation by Kaufland for one of these reasons counts too. Your cancellations are listed in the “Sales” report in the Seller Portal and on your monthly invoice.

How is the rate calculated?

Cancelled items divided by items ordered, for the last completed calendar month. It counts items, not orders, so a cancelled order with three items weighs more than one with a single item.

How do I bring the rate down?

Keep your stock on Kaufland in line with your warehouse. “Goods not in stock” is the first reason on Kaufland’s list of seller-related cancellations, so set an item to zero before it sells twice.

When do I see the fee?

On Kaufland’s monthly invoice. You can see your cancellation rate itself earlier, in the Seller Portal.
