Kaufland charges two fees: a fixed monthly base fee and a commission on every sale. A few other costs only apply if you use a service or if something goes wrong. This article covers all of them, with a worked example for a seller outside Germany selling on Kaufland.de. Amounts are from Kaufland’s conditions page, read on 30 September 2026. The full table per category is on Kaufland fees 2026.
The base fee: Basic or Plus
| Plan | Euro | Czech koruna | Polish złoty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | €39.95 | 990 Kč | 175 zł |
| Plus | €59.95 | 1,500 Kč | 260 zł |
Amounts are per month, excluding VAT. One base fee covers all nine Kaufland marketplaces, so adding Kaufland.fr or Kaufland.it to an existing Kaufland.de account does not add a second subscription. Plus includes €30 a month of credit for Sponsored Product Ads (750 Kč or 130 zł), which Kaufland describes as a discount on the net amount of your Sponsored Product Ads invoice. It only applies to Sponsored Product Ads, you register for that programme separately, and unused credit expires at the end of the month.
Kaufland’s list shows two differences: Plus includes a link to your online shop and the Sponsored Product Ads credit; Basic has neither. You change plans in the Seller Portal under Shop settings, Subscription. An upgrade takes effect immediately; a downgrade takes effect four weeks after you request it.
Kaufland takes the base fee from your available balance and charges it in the currency of the channel you choose to pay it from. It appears on the invoice for the month after next: the fee for September is booked on 1 October and shown on the invoice issued on 1 November.
Commission: by category, on the gross price
Kaufland publishes one commission table with two columns: one for Germany, Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands, and one for Poland. Some rows:
| Category | DE, AT, CZ, SK, FR, IT, ES, NL | PL |
|---|---|---|
| Computers and electronics | 7% | 4% |
| Large household appliances | 7% | 7% |
| Tools and garden tools | 10% | 7% |
| Small household appliances | 13% | 7% |
| Furniture and home | 13% | 10% |
| Garden | 14% | 9% |
| Clothing, bags and footwear | 14% | 10% |
| Jewellery | 16% | 12% |
| Media (books, films, games) | 13% plus €0.70 per item | 9% plus 3 zł per item |
Look up your own category with the commission lookup.
Kaufland calculates commission on the gross sales price: what the buyer pays, including VAT and delivery charges. If you charge the buyer for shipping, you pay commission on that too. The commission itself is quoted excluding VAT; VAT is added on top of it, unless you ship from abroad (see below).
Worked example: a seller outside Germany on Kaufland.de
Say you are based in Ireland and sell a garden hose reel on Kaufland.de for €59.99 including German VAT, and the buyer pays €4.99 shipping. Your distance sales to consumers in other EU countries are above the EU threshold of €10,000, so German VAT applies.
| Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| Buyer pays (price plus shipping) | €64.98 |
| German VAT at 19% within that | €10.37 |
| Commission, 14% of €64.98 | €9.10 |
| Left before your own costs | €45.51 |
If you had calculated commission on the product price excluding VAT (€50.41), you would have expected €7.06, about €2 per order less than you actually pay. From that €45.51 you still pay the purchase price, packaging and the actual shipping to Germany.
Two notes for sellers outside Germany. Kaufland states that if you ship from abroad, no VAT is charged on the commission. And which VAT you owe depends on the EU threshold of €10,000 for distance sales; above it, German VAT applies to sales to German consumers. Kaufland adds that, for operational reasons, it treats sellers below the threshold exactly the same as sellers above it. Check your position with the distance selling threshold check.
The same order for a non-EU seller
If your company is based outside the EU, for example in the UK or the US, and the goods ship from an EU warehouse, Kaufland is the “deemed supplier”. Kaufland then calculates and pays the €10.37 VAT itself and your payout comes without it. Kaufland’s conditions calculate commission on the gross price including VAT and name no exception for this case, so the result per order stays €45.51 before your own costs. What changes is who declares and pays the VAT.
If you trade in pounds or dollars, add currency conversion: Kaufland pays out in the channel’s currency (euro, or koruna and złoty, with a euro option for Czechia and Poland).
The base fee per order
A fixed monthly fee matters more at low volume. On Basic (€39.95) with 40 orders a month, each order carries about €1.00 of base fee. With 400 orders it is about €0.10. Factor it in when you set your first prices, and do not deduct the Plus ad credit: it only reduces what you spend on Sponsored Product Ads, not the base fee.
New to Kaufland? With the code SELLGRIP26 you pay no base fee for your first three months. You can register up to and including 30 November 2026. How it works
Other costs you may run into
Vouchers
Creating a voucher is free. Per redeemed voucher Kaufland charges €0.49 for products under €100 and €0.99 from €100. On Kaufland.pl the fee is 2 zł or 4 zł, with 400 zł as the dividing line; on Kaufland.cz it is 12 Kč or 24 Kč, with 2,500 Kč as the dividing line.
Cancellations
If your seller-related cancellation rate in a month is between 1% and 2.99%, Kaufland charges 7% of the total price of the cancelled transactions; over 3% it is 15%. Work out your own rate with the cancellation rate calculator.
EPR service
For France, Italy and Spain Kaufland offers an EPR service at €1.90 a month per product category, plus the environmental contributions passed on at cost. For Germany and Poland you provide your own registrations.
Performance Coach
Optional coaching at €399 a month for a six-month term. It requires an active Kaufland.de channel with existing sales, and you do not need it to sell.
What Kaufland does not charge, but you still pay
- purchase price and packaging;
- shipping to the buyer;
- return shipping when the returned item costs more than €40;
- VAT registrations and filings in the countries you sell in;
- currency conversion if your bank account is not in euros.
The profit calculator puts it all together for one product.
Checking the commission on your statements
Because commission depends on category and is calculated on the gross price, a Kaufland statement is hard to check by eye. Sellgrip works out, for each settled order, which commission fits the category and price, and puts it next to Kaufland’s figure. That is the Commission check.
