Smart Pricing is Kaufland’s own repricer. You give it a floor, the minimum price, and Kaufland adjusts your price above that floor. There is no separate switch: filling in a minimum price turns Smart Pricing on for that offer. That makes one number more important than it looks, especially if you sell in several countries, where the same product has a different break-even in each.
Below: how the two models work, where to set everything, Kaufland’s bulk price rules, and how to calculate a minimum price that does not cost you money. Kaufland’s rules are as published in the Seller University on 30 September 2026.
Standard and Plus
| Smart Pricing Standard | Smart Pricing Plus | |
|---|---|---|
| What Kaufland looks at | The other offers on Kaufland | The current Buy Box winner on Kaufland and the lowest price for the item found online, including shipping |
| How the price is set | If your offer wins the Buy Box, its price is matched to the second-best offer | Kaufland takes both reference prices into account, within your minimum price |
| Default | Preselected for sellers who already used the older automatic low-price setting | Selected for first-time users of Smart Pricing |
Kaufland describes Standard as a “second-bid sealed auction”, also known as a Vickrey auction: the winning offer gets the price of the second-best offer.
Plus needs price data. If there is none yet for an EAN, Kaufland first adds it to its internal database, which takes about two days.
Your choice of model applies to all your sales channels. The minimum price itself is set per offer, and an offer on Kaufland.cz or Kaufland.pl is priced in koruna or złoty.
Where to set it
- Minimum price per offer: in the Seller Portal in the offer details, or via the API or a file import in the attribute minimum_price.
- The model: Offer management, Pricing rules, Smart pricing.
- Switching it off: remove the minimum price from the offer. Smart Pricing then stops for that offer.
Price adjustments: rules in bulk
Separately from Smart Pricing, Kaufland has automated price adjustments under Offer management, Price rules, Price adjustments. There are three templates:
- adjust offer price, for many offers at once;
- add minimum price;
- change minimum price.
Kaufland applies them in that order, so general price changes run before the minimum price rules. A rule can take up to 30 minutes to take effect. That is useful for putting a floor under a whole category in one go, but a rule based on a percentage of the selling price knows nothing about your purchase price.
Working out the minimum price
The minimum price is the lowest price at which you still want to sell. For most sellers that is break-even plus a small margin. On Kaufland, break-even is made up of:
- purchase price;
- commission: a percentage of the gross price including shipping and VAT, by category (Kaufland fees 2026);
- VAT at the rate of the buyer’s country, where you owe it;
- shipping and packaging to that country;
- for media, a fixed fee per item (€0.70, or 18 Kč and 3 zł).
Example: one lamp, two countries
You sell a desk lamp (lamps and lighting, 13% commission) with free shipping. It costs you €14 to buy. Shipping and packaging cost €6.50 to France and €5.50 to Germany. You owe VAT in the buyer’s country.
| Kaufland.fr (VAT 20%) | Kaufland.de (VAT 19%) | |
|---|---|---|
| Purchase, shipping and packaging | €20.50 | €19.50 |
| Break-even price including VAT | €29.15 | €27.45 |
| Left at €31.00 | €1.30 | €2.52 |
How the French figure works at €31.00: €31.00 without 20% VAT is €25.83. Commission is 13% of €31.00, so €4.03. That leaves €25.83 − €4.03 − €20.50 = €1.30. The same minimum price leaves more in Germany because VAT and shipping are lower. A single floor for every country will be too low in one or needlessly high in another.
The free profit calculator does this per item, and the Buy Box price calculator gives you the floor directly. The commission for your category is in the commission lookup.
Common mistakes
- Copying the current price into the minimum price. That turns Smart Pricing on with no room to move.
- Forgetting shipping. Commission is charged on shipping as well, and your own shipping cost differs per country.
- One percentage rule for everything. “Minimum = 90% of price” sits well above break-even on one item and below it on another.
- Forgetting the exchange rate. A floor in koruna or złoty set months ago may be below break-even today if the rate has moved.
- Assuming Plus only looks at Kaufland. Plus also looks at prices outside Kaufland. Your minimum price stays the limit, so it has to be right.
After a week
Check in the Seller Portal which prices Smart Pricing has set. If many items sit exactly at the minimum, competition is tight, and it is worth looking at your purchase price or shipping costs rather than lowering the floor.
How Sellgrip helps
Sellgrip calculates break-even per offer from your own costs. Minimum prices sets the Smart Pricing floor from that, never below it and only when you click. It works in all nine Kaufland countries, in koruna and złoty on Kaufland.cz and Kaufland.pl, and is part of Business. If the purchase price or commission is missing, Sellgrip sets no minimum price and shows what is missing. Price guard alerts you if a price drops below break-even anyway. Sellgrip never changes a price by itself.
