EPR on Kaufland: the registration numbers you need per country

Two parcels with shipping labels next to a small label printer.

Extended producer responsibility (EPR) means that whoever puts packaging, electrical devices, batteries or textiles on a market pays for their collection and recycling. On Kaufland Global Marketplace this shows up as registration numbers you enter in the Seller Portal. Which numbers you need depends on the country you sell in. This guide sets out what Kaufland asks for, as of 7 October 2026. Every rule comes from Kaufland’s own pages; the sources are at the end.

What Kaufland asks for, per sales channel

Sales channel What Kaufland asks for
Kaufland.de Packaging registration number (LUCID) is mandatory, plus proof of a dual system. WEEE and battery (BattG) numbers if you sell those products.
Kaufland.pl Packaging registration number (BDO) is mandatory. Other categories depending on your products.
Kaufland.fr The IDU for packaging is mandatory. Other categories depending on your products.
Kaufland.es The packaging number (ENV/…) is mandatory. Other categories depending on your products.
Kaufland.at No entry. By accepting the GTCs of Kaufland Marketplace GmbH you confirm that you meet the EPR requirements.
Kaufland.nl, .it, .cz, .sk Currently you are not required to enter EPR information to sell there.

“Not required to enter” does not mean “no duty”. The legal EPR duties in the Netherlands, Italy, the Czech Republic and Slovakia still apply; Kaufland just does not ask for the numbers yet.

Where to enter the numbers

  1. In the Seller Portal, open Settings › Shop settings › EPR compliance.
  2. Choose the sales country.
  3. Click “Add another EPR number” and pick the category. The system shows the expected format.
  4. Click “Submit for review”. Kaufland validates the number and then lists it.

Battery numbers are added with “+ Add Battery Number”. They belong to you as a seller, not to a single product.

Germany: LUCID, dual system, WEEE, batteries

  • Packaging. A valid LUCID registration number is a prerequisite to register and to sell on Kaufland.de. You can save it during registration. You must register in LUCID yourself, wherever your company is based; Kaufland does not allow fulfilment service providers to do it for you. You also join a dual system, and onboarding asks for proof of participation.
  • Electrical equipment (WEEE). You register with stiftung ear. Since 1 July 2023 Kaufland checks and validates WEEE numbers. Without a valid number you may not sell affected products on Kaufland.de and the offers are hidden. There is no deadline extension. Sellers without a German branch register through an authorised representative.
  • Batteries (BattG). Entering the BattG registration numbers is mandatory on Kaufland.de, and the marketplace checks them.
  • Single-use plastics. Since 1 January 2025 marketplaces must check the DIVID registration for affected products.

Kaufland rejects a WEEE number when it is invalid, when it belongs to another company than your seller account (for example the manufacturer’s or supplier’s number instead of your own, or the other way round), when you entered a VAT ID instead, or when the number is already saved. Each number can be saved only once.

Austria

Kaufland.at asks for no numbers; accepting the GTCs counts as your confirmation. Sellers not based in Austria have needed an authorised representative since 1 January 2023. For now Kaufland uses the VKS number or register as provisional proof.

Poland: BDO

The BDO number for packaging is mandatory on Kaufland.pl, also for sellers where Kaufland acts as deemed supplier. The registration is in Polish and can take up to 12 weeks, so start early. Sellers not based in Poland have needed an authorised representative since 1 January 2020. In Poland the BDO number must also appear on your invoices.

France: IDU per category

In France you register per product category with an éco-organisme and receive an IDU (unique identifier) for each. This usually takes 6 to 8 weeks. The IDU for packaging is mandatory. Enter each IDU under Shop settings › EPR compliance and list your IDUs in the legal notice of your shop. France has 18 categories, among them electrical equipment, batteries, packaging, furniture, textiles and footwear (through Refashion), toys, sport and leisure, and DIY and garden. Two more French rules: Triman labelling, and the eco-participation per item on invoices for furniture and electrical equipment.

Spain: NIF first, then ENV

You cannot register for EPR in Spain without a NIF, which takes about 2 to 4 weeks. After that, count on about 2 to 3 weeks per waste stream. Sellers not based in Spain appoint a “Representante Autorizado”. The packaging number has the format ENV/YEAR/XXXXXXXXX, for example ENV/2026/123456789. Electrical equipment uses RII-AEE, batteries RII-PYA. Entering the numbers in the Seller Portal activates your offers in those categories on Kaufland.es. The packaging declaration is typically due by 28 February of the following year, and the EPR number goes on your invoices.

Netherlands, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovakia

  • Netherlands. Packaging and single-use plastics through Verpact, with no threshold; electrical equipment and batteries through Stichting OPEN; textiles through UPV Textiel. Expect about 2 to 3 weeks per waste stream. The EPR number goes on your invoices. Kaufland’s words: “You are responsible for your own EPR compliance – even without verification by Kaufland Global Marketplace.”
  • Italy. CONAI for packaging, Registro A.E.E. for electrical equipment, Registro PILE for batteries, and textiles from 2026. Sellers not based in Italy need an authorised representative.
  • Czech Republic and Slovakia. The legal duties exist (in the Czech Republic packaging through EKO-KOM, plus registration for electrical equipment and batteries). The onboarding page says Kaufland does not ask for numbers on .cz and .sk. Kaufland’s EU Battery Regulation page (February 2026), however, lists both countries among those that need a battery number. The two pages differ, so check what the Seller Portal asks for in your account.

EPR Service by Kaufland

For France, Italy and Spain Kaufland offers an EPR Service. Kaufland provides the registration numbers, adds the eco-fees, reports to the organisations and pays them. For each product category in which you use a Kaufland EPR number you pay €1.90 a month, but only in months with sales in that category. The eco-fees are passed on one to one, without a commission surcharge, and appear on Kaufland’s monthly invoice.

  • France: switched on automatically when you onboard for Kaufland.fr without entering your own numbers. 8 categories, so at most €15.20 a month.
  • Spain: switched on automatically. 3 categories (packaging, electrical equipment, batteries), at most €5.70 a month.
  • Italy: you switch it on yourself under Shop settings › EPR Compliance › EPR Service. It covers packaging, electrical equipment and batteries; packaging is excluded for sellers based in Italy.

The service does not cover invoice details, labelling, repairability or durability indices, or take-back terms. Those stay with you. If you switch the service off without entering your own numbers, your offers in those categories are hidden.

What happens when a number is missing

Offers without the required number are blocked or hidden, but only on the affected sales channel. Your other countries keep selling. The Global Dashboard shows an “EPR violations” counter, so you can see at a glance where something is missing. Kaufland’s pages do not say whether or when it will start asking for numbers on .nl, .it, .cz and .sk.

Where Sellgrip fits in

Sellgrip is software for Kaufland sellers. It connects through the Kaufland Seller API and shows each morning what your shop needs: orders, returns, tickets, profit per product and payouts. Opportunities lists Kaufland bestsellers you do not sell yet and popular items where your price is not competitive. Sellgrip is free for up to 100 products in one Kaufland country. It does not register or enter EPR numbers for you; that stays in the Seller Portal.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a LUCID number before I can sell on Kaufland.de?

Yes. Kaufland calls a valid LUCID number a prerequisite for registration and for selling on Kaufland.de. You register in LUCID yourself, not through a fulfilment provider.

Can I use my supplier’s WEEE number?

No. The number must belong to the company behind your seller account. Kaufland rejects numbers of other companies, VAT IDs entered by mistake and numbers that are already saved.

Do I need EPR numbers for Kaufland.nl?

Kaufland does not ask for them on Kaufland.nl at the moment. The Dutch duties (Verpact, Stichting OPEN, UPV Textiel) still apply, and Kaufland says you are responsible for compliance even without its check.

What does the EPR Service cost?

€1.90 per category per month, only in months with sales in that category, plus the eco-fees passed on one to one. It is available for France, Italy and Spain.

If a number is missing, are all my offers hidden?

No. Only the offers on the affected sales channel are blocked or hidden. The Global Dashboard counts EPR violations.
