To sell on Kaufland Global Marketplace you register once in the Kaufland Seller Portal and upload a few documents. Which ones depends on your legal form. This guide lists what Kaufland asks for, as of 7 October 2026. Every rule comes from Kaufland’s own pages; the sources are at the end.
The short list
- ID card or passport of everyone who represents the business
- Proof of the business: a trade licence, or a commercial register extract no older than four weeks
- For companies: proof of the shareholding structure and details of every beneficial owner with 25% or more
- The VAT ID of the country where the business is based, and the OSS number for EU online sales
- For sellers based in the EU: the tax identification number (TIN) for the DAC7 report
- EPR registration numbers, such as packaging, depending on the countries you sell in
- Bank details for each sales channel, entered after activation
Each file may be up to 4 MB. If everything is complete, Kaufland activates the seller account within three working days.
Who can register
Kaufland names four basic requirements: you trade as a business, you can be reached by phone and email, you do not sell items from prohibited categories, and every product has an official EAN (GTIN). Private individuals without a business cannot register. Sellers from outside the EU can, but they need a country-specific tax registration and a VAT ID for each sales channel, and their returns address must be in the EU.
Documents by legal form
| Legal form | What Kaufland asks for (minimum) |
|---|---|
| Sole proprietor | Copy of ID card or passport (verified via IDnow), trade licence |
| Company or commercial partnership (for example GmbH, Ltd, SARL, OHG, KG) | Copy of the ID card or passport of all company representatives, commercial register extract, proof of the shareholding structure |
| Civil-law partnership (German GbR) | Copy of the ID card or passport of all partners, trade licence, proof of the ownership structure |
Kaufland’s Seller University adds two practical rules: the commercial register extract may be no older than four weeks, and each file may be at most 4 MB. Order a fresh extract shortly before you register.
Beneficial owners
Kaufland has to identify everyone who directly or indirectly holds 25% or more of the shares or voting rights (German Money Laundering Act). For each of them it asks for the name, date and place of birth, private address and the exact share in percent. It also needs a document that shows the structure: a partnership agreement, a list of shareholders, an audit report or similar proof. Kaufland says you may black out information it does not need.
Tax data: VAT ID, OSS and TIN
- VAT ID and OSS. For each sales channel Kaufland requires the VAT ID of the country where the business is based and the OSS number for online sales within the EU. Without OSS you need a VAT ID in each country you sell to. You can enter the OSS number during registration.
- Kaufland.es. To activate a seller account on Kaufland.es you need a valid VAT ID (NIF/IVA) that is verified in the EU’s VIES system.
- Checks after activation. Kaufland validates the VAT ID in VIES and with the German Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt). The company details in your legal notice must match your tax registration and master data exactly. If a VAT ID is not corrected in time, the affected sales channel is hidden automatically.
- DAC7. Sellers based or tax-resident in the EU enter the tax identification number (TIN) of their head office in the Seller Portal, and the address and TIN of every other EU tax residence. In Germany the TIN is the tax ID or the tax number, not the commercial register number and not the VAT ID.
EPR numbers per country
| Sales channel | What Kaufland requires |
|---|---|
| Kaufland.de | Packaging registration (LUCID) is mandatory; Kaufland calls a valid LUCID number a prerequisite for registering and selling. Also proof of a dual system, and WEEE and battery numbers if you sell those products. |
| Kaufland.fr | The unique identifier (IDU) for packaging is mandatory, other categories depending on your products. Registering with an eco-organisation usually takes 6 to 8 weeks. |
| Kaufland.es | The packaging number is mandatory. You first need a Spanish NIF (about 2 to 4 weeks), then about 2 to 3 weeks per waste stream. Sellers based outside Spain appoint an authorised representative. |
| Kaufland.pl | Packaging registration (BDO number) is mandatory. |
| Kaufland.at | Nothing to enter; by accepting Kaufland’s terms you confirm that you meet the EPR rules. |
| Kaufland.cz, .sk, .it, .nl | Currently no EPR information required. |
You enter the numbers in the Seller Portal under Settings › Shop settings › EPR compliance. For France and Spain, start early: those registrations take weeks, Kaufland’s check takes days.
Registration step by step
- Open Kaufland’s seller registration and choose Basic or Plus.
- Create the account with an email address and a password.
- Enter the general details: the shop name customers see, the average number of items and your categories.
- Enter the company details: natural person, partnership or legal entity, and the tax information.
- Upload the documents. If you do not act in your own name, add the beneficial owners here.
- Name contacts for customer service and Seller Support, and an authorised representative in the EU if you sell CE-marked products made outside the EU.
- Check and submit. The Kaufland Global Marketplace team reviews your details.
- After activation you choose your first sales channel. Other countries can be added later at no extra cost; see Kaufland Global Marketplace.
Then comes the onboarding for each channel: shipping groups, offers, tax information, legal texts, company details and EPR, returns address and warehouses. Bank details go in under Settings › Shop settings › Payment details, once per sales channel. Two-factor authentication is mandatory for every user. The full route from registration to first sale is in Selling on Kaufland in 2026.
How Kaufland checks your registration
After you submit, the Kaufland Global Marketplace team reviews your details and documents. Sole proprietors and registered traders confirm their ID card or passport through IDnow, an online identity check. If all required data is complete, Kaufland activates the seller account within three working days. The three days count from a complete file: order a fresh register extract and go through the list above before you submit.
Kaufland’s registration pages do not ask for a bank statement or a separate proof of address. You enter bank details per sales channel after activation; the private address of each beneficial owner is entered as data during registration. The VAT ID and EPR checks follow after activation (see above). Where everything sits once you are live: the Kaufland Seller Portal, step by step.
SELLGRIP26: three months without the base fee
Kaufland charges a monthly base fee of €39.95 (Basic) or €59.95 (Plus), excluding VAT, one fee for all its marketplaces. With the code SELLGRIP26, new sellers pay no base fee for their first three months. Enter the code in the voucher field during registration, not afterwards. It is valid until 30 November 2026. Commission on each sale still applies. Details: SELLGRIP26 and what the code saves you.
After registration: where Sellgrip helps
Sellgrip is software for Kaufland sellers. It connects through the Kaufland Seller API and shows each morning what your shop needs: orders, returns, tickets, profit per product and payouts. Opportunities lists Kaufland bestsellers you do not sell yet and popular items where your price is not competitive. Sellgrip is free for up to 100 products in one Kaufland country. You do not need Sellgrip to register on Kaufland.
